Why do I need support on my healing journey?
One of the many good definitions of trauma is that “trauma is too much, too soon, too fast.”
I would say that feeling alone and emotionally unsupported, almost always can be added to this definition.
Clients, more often than not, report feeling alone and helpless during their difficult experiences from the past.
Trauma cannot be integrated alone.
Trying to go into your trauma alone would mean two things: You wouldn’t be able to reach deeper layers on your own because of self-protection mechanisms, as your psyche wouldn’t let you get near it. Or if you did manage to get anywhere close to it, you would be retraumatising yourself for trying to face it alone again.
Trauma integration needs a slow, gentle and loving approach. It needs to be done in a safe container with the right support.
I know from experience that it can be hard to find a method and/or a professional who “gets it”.
Many people who have gone through trauma find it scary to ask for help.
But please don’t give up on yourself. There are extremely effective methods and professionals out there ready to support you on your healing journey.
Take your time finding the right support for you.
Good support and integration of trauma is possible.
As you commit to being supported and start to show up for yourself, your system will start to find a state of coherence. You will feel resilient and more capable of facing and enjoying life with a sense of solidity.
