5 signs of a dysregulated nervous system

A dysregulated nervous system can profoundly impact most bodily functions. It can also hugely affect your mental and emotional health.

Here is a few signs of dysregulation:

🔸Sleep issues

A dysregulted nervous system can impact your sleep cycle. And it can also affect your body temperature and heart rate variability. A few signs could be feeling too hot/cold and unable to relax during sleep. You may also wake up in the middle of the night with an elevated heart rate.

🔸You often feel irritated and reactive.

Your feelings may swing from one extreme to the other without any warning. You tend to overreact suddenly in small situations.

🔸 You feel dread or/and get overwhelmed easily.

You feel you can’t keep up with everything. You may experience overwhelm and fear even when things are going well.

🔸Constant worrying

Your mind is constantly busy. You find yourself constantly ruminating about the past. Resolving problems in your head. You find difficult to get to a relaxed state.

🔸 You are highly sensitive to other people’s emotional state.

You feel the need to look after people even when they are not asking for help. You may also feel drained around other people.

This is small sample of “symptoms” and it is not an exhaustive list. Always consult your doctor if you are concerned the above list can be pointing to other issues beyond nervous system dysregulation.
