A few pointers about nervous system regulation and productivity
There is much confusion on social media around trauma and nervous system regulation, which leads to a common misconception that we must never challenge ourselves.
It’s totally understandable why most people assume this. There is nuance in the human experience and there is much nuance on the healing journey. It is not possible to communicate all subtleties on social media.
It often takes me many sessions to slowly introduce and address these nuances around productivity and healing. Sometimes it can take months, for a person to fully grasp and embody it, as we each go on a personal discovery journey when we start to apply the principles I often share.
So please keep in mind that there are nuances in what I will share below.
⚡️Predictability gives the nervous system a sense of safety.⚡️
Keeping a rough framework for your days is very helpful. You can create to do lists for important tasks or a list of basic everyday tasks to complete. Or use any other method that suits you. This way you can work with any procrastination, aka freeze, in a clear way, while remaining flexible around your days. It’s easier to identify and solve issues when it’s written in black and white in front of you.
Once you have experimented enough with the above suggestions and have a clear idea of sticking points. You can then start to see where you would like to improve and tweak things.
With more capacity in your nervous system, you will be able to bring to life what you wish to create. Opening up the possibility of sharing your gifts with others in an authentic way.
So there is nothing wrong with challenging ourselves as we heal. It’s possible to combine practicality and productivity to your healing journey.
This is achievable by:
⚡️Adding more predictability to your days.
⚡️Working closely with your capacity/window of tolerance.
⚡️Adding incremental challenges with flexibility and self compassion.
