A physical sensation is the bridge between brain/mind and the body. It can unlock important parts of the “healing puzzle”…
Somatic work, among other things, is designed to get you more in touch with your body.
Another addition to the work is to introduce the language of sensations.
This can be tricky to start with, as most of us are not used to pay attention to sensations in the body and even less used to describe these sensations with language.
Starting to describe how you feel in your body, using the language of sensations, is one effective way to engage the higher brain in the process of healing and integration (top down approach meeting the bottom down simultaneously).
When you can think or/and describe in terms of bodily sensations. You are engaging your cognition.
I’m sharing below a small sample of a few language possibilities to use for sensations.
