An overwhelmed nervous system needs less stimulation
If you are looking to heal chronic stress and trauma, piling up more techniques and more solution focused methods will overwhelm you even more.
There is nothing wrong with solution focused methods, results and productivity.
In fact, lack of productivity was my last straw when I finally admitted I had to deal with my unhealed trauma in order to move forward in a meaningful way with my life.
But what I didn’t know was that using all the mindset methods, finding quick fixes and different techniques was just overwhelming my system and not helping at all. Even meditation was the perfect tool to help me dissociate, that’s why I was so good at it.
Little did I know that finding safety within my body and building capacity in my nervous system was all that I needed in order to get my mojo back.
As Peter Levine often says: “Less is more.”
I invite you to experiment moving away from our societal programming of doing more, piling up more cognition, more understanding, more techniques.
You would be surprised of the newfound connection and natural flow that may emerge if you allow your body and nervous system to reorganise, bringing natural movement into your life.
