Why certain aspects of somatic healing makes me feel I’m ignoring my pain and my problems?

One of the key aspects in resolving stress and trauma is to “teach” you and your body to feel safe. It’s like the body has forgotten how feeling good looks and feels like.

We don’t purposely aim to ignore pressing issues, but since the body and mind are so used to focus on pain, unsafeness and problems we gently and slowly start to invite your attention elsewhere.

It’s already easy to focus on problems and discomfort. This is what a person in a state of survival has been doing for many years. We don’t need more of the same when trying to nudge the body towards reorganisation.

In somatic healing we don’t aim to push away any experience or feelings. We honour them.
But if we only indulge in what the mind and body are already preoccupied with, we won’t be able to work towards changing the patterns that are keeping you stuck.

So instead, we bring something different to the equation.

What would it be like to explore something else in this moment?

What would it be like to “open the windows” and let some fresh air in for a few moments?

Curiosity is key in the healing journey.
We cultivate a little bit of curiosity and freshness to help the shift take place.

Little by little, the body starts to reorganise away from the continuous state of stress. Building more capacity to experience calm, joy and playfulness.

Does this make sense?
I would love to hear your comments and questions.
