It's your physiology, not your mindset…
Your symptoms, including your thoughts, reflect your physiological state.
If your body is dysregulated, your cognitive function won't be fully online.
Plus the type of thoughts you will be having will be linked to the state of your nervous system.
For instance, thoughts such as:
“I don’t have enough time”
“I must push through”
Are thoughts linked to fight/flight (sympathetic activation-mobilisation).
In contrast, thoughts such as:
“I can’t change my life.”
“Everything feels impossible/hopeless”
Are thoughts linked to shutdown ( Dorsal vagal-immobilisation).
That’s why it’s extremely important to work on your nervous system regulation. Without it your mindset won’t change, no matter how hard you try.
Physiology trumps mindset. You can’t override a physiology that is “stuck” in survival.
