Recenter by using resources - a somatic healing approach

In Somatic Experiencing (SE) we have a term: “Resources”

Resources in SE is anything that helps you recenter, regaining your sense of self. Inviting homeostasis after a nervous system activation.

Make a note of a few resources you find helpful in your life. When feeling activated pick one or two and use them. You can have as many resources as you like on your list.

Resources can be used alone (activities that you do to help you body to self-regulate) and also reaching out to connect with others, to co-regulate.

I will share a few of my resources with you to give you an idea of how it works. Feel free to share some of yours, so others can also benefit.

• To spend time with my dogs.
• Walk in nature, especially barefoot on the grass.
• Sit in the sunshine.
• Clean the house.
• Prayer.
• Silence.
• Herbal teas...
