Somatic healing and nervous system regulation work is not designed to make you feel calm

It’s common to see somatic healing in social media portrayed as a set of formulas.

“If you feel angry you do xyz to process it”.
“If you feel grief you do abc.”
“If you are frustrated do wxy…”

Healing on a deeper level has nothing to do with this poor caricature.

Sure you can use some resources to help you center yourself.

But if you think the sole aim of this work is to keep following these formulas to avoid discomfort you will be bypassing your healing by miles.

The aim of this work is to foster resilience and flexibility in your system. So that you can navigate the whole range of emotions and life challenges without folding.

And for this, you need to be able to feel your emotions without pressuring them to change.

You need to be able to accept where you are at, observing the discomfort without over identifying with it and without trying to fix it at every moment.

I know it’s easier said than done, because a dysregulated nervous system finds it hard to let go of control and its unhelpful patterns.

But that’s why part of the ground work is to build capacity….

There is so much more to this than what you have been sold on social media.

If you are tired of trying the surface level options out there you are welcome to check my 1:1 somatic session options in my bio.

If you are new to this work and is intrigued. Feel free to check my highlights “The process” and The process 2”.
