What does it mean to have a regulated nervous system?
Many think that nervous system regulation means never getting angry, upset or frustrated. Living in a constant state of calmness.
This is a great misconception.
You will always experience all types of emotions, including uncomfortable ones, no matter how “healed” you are.
Your nervous system is dynamic and not designed to live constantly in one state only.
A nervous system that is regulated is flexible. It can move in and out of states and then come back into a healthy baseline (homeostasis), if there isn’t any real threat in your immediate environment.
