Why can't I stick to things? Why do I struggle with consistency?

Many of us struggle with consistency. I certainly did. In fact it was one of my biggest behavioural issues.

I have always had grand plans and projects in mind, then would make some progress for awhile, only to change my mind later. Giving up or jumping to a different project altogether.

Psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mindset coaching, energy healing and all sorts of other healing modalities would not help me with this at all.
Meanwhile, I kept on watching so many people I knew managing life and business well. Able to push through when things got tough and eventually finding some form of success.

As I observed this phenomenon for years and looking at how I couldn’t cope and couldn’t be helped, I started to think there was something seriously wrong with me.

It wasn’t until I started the deep somatic work that things changed. I realised I didn’t have the capacity in my body to carry through with my ideas. That’s the thing we don’t get taught by any other modalities and school of thoughts.
The body just gets ignored.

What somatic integration showed me is that our bodies and nervous systems need to build capacity to hold our visions. If we don’t have that capacity we cannot have consistency, often struggling to push through, without some sort of crashing, when things get tough.

And it’s not just the lack of resilience and capacity in the nervous system, but also any “stuck” incomplete fight/flight/freeze/shutdown responses in our nervous system get in the way of consistency.

So if you keep on wanting more, trying and failing to show consistency, more often than not it’s just lack of capacity and resilience in your nervous system. And those can be worked with.

Once capacity and resilience are in place you will be able to push through when necessary, sticking to things to completion.
