Deep inner healing work can only be reached when the nervous system has the capacity to dive deeper…
... And this can only happen when your body is starting to feel safe + you have built enough resources.
Otherwise the system will self protect at any hint of deeper work. That’s why pushing when doing somatic work doesn’t help.
Pushing when the body is not ready to release and integrate it will only activate more self-protection and more survival strategies.
Slow and steady is the new effective when the aim is to heal trauma and states of chronic stress.
This is because the system is already in overwhelm. In other words, a trauma trained professional will work with you to “de-escalate” the pressure within your system.
A felt sense of safety is imperative and we can never undermine the power of resources in this process.
