Healing begins when you get out of your head and get back into your body
“Living in the head” is one of the most common survival strategies.
After decades of talk therapy, coaching and energy healing methods I had given up trying. I had struggled with chronic fatigue syndrome, autoimmune issues, hypersensitivity and nothing had helped long term.
When I found Somatic Experiencing (SE) I thought it wouldn’t work. It seemed too straightforward, too slow and it lacked complexity. I thought: “How can this help me at all?” But I continued with it anyway, as I had tried everything else before and had no energy left to look for the next magical quick fix.
As I started my SE healing journey it took me awhile to stop trying to understand everything on a mental level. It was hard to step back and trust my body and nervous system to do the work. But to my surprise, after a relatively short while, I started to have more clarity, aliveness and feeling readiness to face life’s challenges.
I realised I didn’t have to make sense of chronic stress and trauma in order to resolve the many symptoms I was experiencing.
With SE I felt seen, held and understood on a level (non verbal and non mental) I didn’t know was possible.
But one thing I noticed was that it took me awhile to dial back on the hope of having all life problems solved by this method.
SE is not a panacea. None of the methods I have tried is. But the difference with SE is that I could finally start reorganising my life with more flexibility and in a pragmatic way, without the false, ungrounded ideas that had been sold to me in the past.
It was a process of getting back into my own body, finally giving my nervous system what it didn’t have growing up.

What a breath of fresh air! 🥰
If you have tried SE I would love to hear your stories in the comments.
If you haven’t tried it yet and would like to get a taste and understanding of how it feels in your own body, feel free to book a Zoom session.
