Chronic conditions: How to heal?

When there is “trapped traumatic stress” in your body (I.e. nervous system, fascia, muscles, bones, cells…).
Your system cleverly “learns” to adapt in order to survive life challenges.

The cost of doing business with these adaptations (defensive accommodations + dysregulation in bodily systems) start to weigh down in all functions of the body.

Dealing with daily life stressors, in a body that is already overwhelmed, is much harder and is what eventually can cause emotional and physical health “breakdowns”.

This is because your body never gets time to “rest” when it’s running between sympathetic (fight/flight) or high tone dorsal, aka freeze.

Your body eventually gets so overwhelmed that it can’t cope with the constant ping pong between these heightened stress states. This pattern of chronic dysregulation is what I see often in all types of chronic health issues, what we call syndromes, such as fibromyalgia, auto immune issues, chronic pain, chronic fatigue etc…

How do we heal from these ?

A few pointers:

🔸It’s important to keep in mind that this work must be done in a very specific and titrated (slow and gentle) manner. Otherwise the system becomes even more overwhelmed.

🔸It’s imperative that we work with the systems of your body, such as adrenals, brainstem, mediastinum, layers, different mechanisms in the brain etc… and in some cases it’s even necessary to work with reflex integration.

🔸 It’s not about how many somatic exercises you do or how much understanding you have. Cognitive understanding is important, but most impactful is the combination of the right tools applied correctly for your specific needs. It’s not about doing more, but it’s about doing less with targeted strategies.

🔸Healing encompasses restoring your ability to safely feel your own self, your environment and human connections around you.

🔸This work can’t be rushed. It is about recovering your system in a very deep way, as it has been overwhelmed for decades.

Do you feel healing is possible for you?
