What’s all the fuss about nervous system regulation?
I hear you. It seems like everyone on Instagram is talking about nervous system dysregulation as a source of our mental, emotional and physical problems.
It’s true that nervous system dysregulation affects our health on many levels.
But one of the main reasons I talk about this is because without nervous system regulation you can’t feel safe in your own body.
When your system “thinks” it’s under threat, living in survival mode (fight/flight/freeze/shutdown), it has very little capacity for healing.
Looking for threat, subconsciously, takes up space and a lot of energy. Leaving the system depleted and overworked.
That’s why somatic work and nervous system regulation is the base. Before we do anything we need to start bringing in more safety.
Only then we can start adding other aspects.
Deep and long-lasting healing is a non-linear process and we do the regulation at the same time as building resilience and at the same time as teaching your body how feeling good/safe feels like.
And for those who want to go deeper, catapulting their healing, we look at SSP, which “re-tunes” the whole nervous system. We can also look at integrating fragmentation with a little bit of parts work etc…
But safety has to come first, without it there is no long-lasting healing.
