One of the biggest mistakes in trauma and somatic healing journey

Social media is the perfect place for learning innovative ways to heal. We follow lots of great practitioners and therapists.

We apply a few exercises.
We may even start having sessions with one of the professionals we follow.
We like it.
We see some results, but somehow we can’t help but search for more ideas and methods.

I call this shiny object syndrome and FOMO

With this habit, we can get lost for decades going from place to place. From method to method and wonder why we are not seeing long lasting results.

What type of message you are sending your nervous system when you can’t even stick to one method you found helpful?

‼️Instability and chaos.

A system that is traumatised or/and in a high level of chronic stress find it difficult to stick to things. That’s why awareness of this issue is important, so that you can make a decision in one direction.

Consistency and showing yourself you can stick to one thing is also part of the healing journey. It might feel boring and uninspiring at times, after all a dysregulated system likes thrills and novelty, but a steady pace is what such system needs.

What to do?

💡Make an informed decision to stick to one method and a practitioner you feel safe with.💡

This seems simple enough, but if you are anything like I was with a dysregulated nervous system and unresolved developmental trauma this is one of the most difficult things to do.

🌟Anything worth having takes time, focus and dedication.🌟

Let this be the first time you decide to stick to something worthwhile.
For me SE (Somatic Experiencing) was “the thing” I had to stick to in order to heal. I needed to build capacity and go deeper into my healing to be able to build momentum in my life. Jumping from one thing to the next was not an option anymore.

Once you see it through you will feel an immense sense of accomplishment! Not to mention that from then on sticking to other projects and seeing things through become easier. You will finally start to build the life you always wanted.
