Procrastination is a physiological phenomenon

How many of us have tried to overcome bad habits and unhelpful patterns just to fall back into them all over again, after trying so many different strategies to change?

We procrastinate because the nervous system is dysregulated. It is keeping a load of unfinished fight/flight/freeze responses “locked” within, caused by past traumas and/or chronic stress.
That’s why it takes so much energy to do what we want and need to do, as there is too much trapped energy in the system.

Procrastination is then the most intelligent solution when this is the case.

Years of cognitive therapies, mindset coaching, energy healing and mentorship didn’t work for me at all. It left me frustrated with the underlying impression that there was something wrong with me.

The moment I started with Somatic work, aiding self regulation of the autonomic nervous system, gaining more flexibility in my system, my life changed!

I see the same trend all the time with my clients too. They start doing all the things they never got around to and as a bonus they also start to feel more joy while doing the things they found hard to do in the first place. Win win!

What a breakthrough we would all have if all practitioners and mental health professionals were educated in the nervous system and in Somatic solutions.

Trying to solve procrastination cognitively takes too much effort and it doesn’t address the core issue. The somatic part of the puzzle is the missing piece.
