We are all unique in how we experience life
Your trauma is valid even if you hear from others or from your own self talk, some version of below statements:
• It happened a long time ago. I should have been over it already.
• People go through much worse things than I did.
• Others can’t relate to what I went through.
• No one knows or understand what I went through.
• Someone else went through similar things and they seem fine.
There are many variables involved in each circumstance. People have different personalities, support system, differences of how overwhelmed their nervous system already is with previous experiences etc...
We are all unique in how we experience life. What happened to you has an influence on how you see and interact with yourself, others and the world around you.
This acknowledgment is one of the first big steps on your healing journey.
This step is important and you don’t even have to spend too much time in it, but try ignore it and you can end up stuck living through survival strategies for a very long time.
Once acknowledged and felt, you can then start to move forward with less weight in your “backpack”.
